Sandercock, Hennessy, Purchase and Bailey bring home more wins

The usual suspects made return trips to victory lane in an action-packed night at Brighton Speedway Saturday night.  Much to fans delight 85 stock cars dialed in and went head to head during a full race card presented by Behan Construction and Sine’s Flooring featuring the Vanderlaan Building Products Late Models, Bainer’s OilGARD Anti-Rust Canadian Modifieds, Brighton Automotive Thunder Stocks, Bill’s Johns Comp 4 and Mini-Stocks, Quinte Septic Junior and Senior Stingers, along with mechanic’s races in the Thunder Stock and Late Model divisions.

Sandercock sails to 8th victory

It only took No. 57 Charlie Sandercock 12 laps to muscle his way up from his 10th starting position to the top 5 in the Vanderlaan Building Products 30-lap main event. Using the cushion to his advantage, he snapped up the lead from No. 89 Austin King on lap 18 and sailed to victory lane for the 8th time this season.  King earned a hard fought second place, No. 46 Brandon Mowat was third, No. 55 Bradley Rayner fourth and No. 5 Steve Baldwin fifth.

Seventh heaven for Hennessy

At the drop of the green flagAndrew Hennessy was quick to jump on the lead. Even after a pair of cautions on the first lap slowed the pace, the 87 machine never lost its momentum in the Bainer’s OilGARD Anti-Rust Canadian Modified 25-lap affair.  On each restart Hennessy took off and checked out as No. 48 Derek Greig tried furiously to catch him but the 87 was too far gone.  Hennessy parked it for the seventh time this season.  Greig captured runner up, No. 99 Linc Brown was third, No. 1 Shawn Gregory fourth and No. 29 Rich Sanders was fifth.

Purchase parks it again

No. 17 Jeff Humphry looked like he was well on his way to his first Brighton Automotive Thunder Stock career win as a he dominated 19 of the 20-lap affair. He fought off the likes of No. 92 Adam Turner and then No. 53 Wade Purchase successfully but a caution on the last lap brought the action to a standstill.  On the restart Purchase rode the cushion to the lead around turn 1 and on to victory lane for the third time this season, leaving Humphry to settle for a hard earned second, No. 51 Mike Freeman was third, No. 14 Chris Dorland fourth and No. 0 Tyler French fifth.

Bailey and Moore bring in more wins

No. 1 Brock Gregory led the field of Bill’s John’s Comp 4 and Mini-Stock to green in the 15-lap event.  Gregory took off and looked like he could snag another season win but No. 44 Tommy Bailey was hungry for his sixth win of the season and drove hard to victory lane.  No. 43 Devon Kippen came in second, No. 17E Doug Butler third, Gregory took fourth and No. 19 Jordan Baldwin fifth.

In the Mini-stock division, No. 14m Matthew Moore rode to victory lane again, No. 25 Lawrence Evenden in second, No. 7 Anthony Rinaldi earned third and Campbellford Chrysler driver of the week No. 12 Caleb Severn was fourth.

Golden and Dick capture victories

No. 22 Daniel Dick led all 12-laps from start to finish in the Quinte Septic Junior Feature event. Dick was unstoppable as he drove hard to victory lane for the second time this year.  No. 76 Brad Collar was second, No. 4 Corey Halbert placed third, No. 99 Alex Woods fourth and No. 72 Austin South was fifth.

No.85 Brittany Golden stomped on the gas on the first lap of the Quinte Septic Senior Stinger 12-lap affair and never looked back.  She parked it leaving No. 07 Megan Golden to settle for a well-earned second.  No. 08 Brian Cross was third, No. 7 Rick Phillips fourth and No. 1 Kyle Gregory fifth.

Rayner and Mowat king mechanics

Night 2 of the ever-popular mechanics races excited fans as the hard-working mechanics strutted from the work stall and jumped in behind the wheel.  Mark Rayner checked out and parked his son Bradley Rayner’s No. 55 machine in the Late Model Mechanic’s 10-lap event.  Warren Mowat drove his wife Leslie Turcotte-Mowat’s No. 2 machine to victory lane in the Thunder Stock Mechanic’s 10-lap event.
