From the Desk of Angela Rinaldi with help from Clayton Johns

Pinty’ Delicious Foods and Comfort Zone Heating & Air Conditioning host the Action Sprint Tour alongside the Vanderlaan Building Products Ltd. Late Model Hotch’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Race 2, Bainer’s OilGARD Anti Rust Canadian Modifieds, Brighton Automotive Thunder Stocks, Bill’s Johns Comp 4 & Mini Stocks this Saturday, August 17th at Brighton Speedway beginning at 7:00 pm.

The Action Sprint Tour powered by continues its drive towards the championship with the second half of back-to-back weekends of action when the tour makes it most eastern stop at Brighton Speedway on Saturday, August 17. It will be the tour’s eighth race of the season as the series suffered a single rainout at Humberstone in June.  The tour has only visited Brighton Speedway once previously, an event that took place on August 18, 2018 and saw Mississauga’s Mack DeMan visit Victory Lane. DeMan, who currently drives a 360 Sprint Car for Nathan Ackland Racing, will not be in the field, guaranteeing a different winner in the tour’s second visit to the 1/3-mile clay oval located on the shores of Lake Ontario.

The Vanderlaan Building Product Ltd. Late Model Division has returned from their travels to the east in the Northeast Late Model Alliance race at Cornwall Motor Speedway.  Sixteen drivers took the green flag in the third race of the series with No. 5 Steve Baldwin grabbing his first win on the season, followed up by No. 57 Charlie Sandercock, No. 12 Kyle Sopaz in third, No. 7 Adam Nayler in fourth and rounding out the top five was No. 89 Austin King.  Sandercock sits with the lead half way through this six-race series that will see them at Brighton Speedway for the Applefest Shootout Weekend September 20th and 21st.  This Saturday night the Late Models will finish up the Hotch’s Auto Parts Triple Crown and with only 16 points separating first to sixth, it’s anyone’s guess who going to round out the top three.

With a commanding lead in the Bainer’s OilGARD Anti Rust Division, No. 87 Andrew Hennessy is coming off of a double win from last Saturday, August 10th. After piloting both the Canadian Modified to victory lane and then the Late Model, Hennessy will look for the repeat this weekend as well.  No. 12 Adam Whaley and No. 07 Curtis King are in a tight battle for the runner up spot with only 15 points separating the two contenders.  No. 32 Doug O’Blenis and No. 39 Jonah Mutton round out the top five as we head into the last six races on their season.

The Brighton Automotive Thunder Stock Larry’s Towing Triple Crown races came to an end last weekend with No. 72 Doug Anderson taking home the bragging rights ahead of No. 03 Justin Ramsay and No. 53 Wade Purchase who were separated by only one point in the three-race series.  The championship battle is tightening in this division with only 20 points separating Anderson and defending champion Purchase.    No. 85 Austin Reid sits in third, 160 points from Purchase and No. 48 Adam Wells and No. 17 Jeff Humphry finish up the top five in this division.

The Bill’s Johns Mini Stocks had some visiting cars register this past weekend to bring their car count to 8.  This new division is becoming increasingly popular with No. 14 Matt Moore holding the first-place position and No. 7 Anthony Rinaldi maintain second with a consistent rookie season.  No. 12 Caleb Severin, No. 25 Lawrence Evenden and No. 22 Keith Dunk make up the top five points contenders in this division.

The Bill’s Johns Comp 4 class has a back and forth battle at the top as No. 43 Devon Kippen and No. 44 Tommy Bailey sit with 10 points between them.  A late race incident shook up No. 52 Doug Galt who took an escorted trip to visit doctors last weekend but was sent home and resting. He held on to third place points and is followed up by No. 1 Brock Gregory and close behind him No. 4 Chris Tufford.

This Saturday’s schedule sees the Front Gates opening at 5:30 PM, Hot Laps will hit the track at 6:00 PM and the Green Flag will fly at 7:00 PM.  Grandstand admission with be; Adults $15.00 Youths & Seniors $13.00 Children 7-12 $4.00 Family Pass $40 Children 6 & Under Free.   All tickets are available at the Front Gate.
