Anderson, Peterson, Bristow, Terpstra, Bowers, Down and Cooper Win On Second Week of Kart Klub

BRIGHTON – June 3, 2016 – A beautiful June evening greeted drivers at the Kiwanis Club of Trenton Brighton Speedway Kart Klub for night two of the 2016 season. A total of 37 karters hit the infield oval for action in search of the checkered flag. Jay MacArthur presented the winning plaques to karters on behalf of the Kiwanis Club of Trenton.

Cooper Wins Second Straight

Tyson Cooper started fourth in the Box Stock 1 feature, but the five-year-old Picton driver battled his was to the front of the field to win his second Kart Klub race of the season. Tyson took the lead on lap three in the 10-lap feature after an exciting three-wide battle with brothers Gordie and Gabe Miller. Coleson Gregory was a strong fourth-place finisher while Callie Bristow finished fifth in her first race.

Down Wins Box Stock 2 Again

Jacob Down wasted little time getting to the front of the field in Box Stock 2 competition. Jacob started third, but darted to the lead in time to pace the opening lap. A caution on lap seven took away Jacob’s lead, but he was strong on the restart to hold off a very strong pair of drivers in Cooper McKeown and Trevyn McCrillis.

Bowers Wins First Rookie 1 Feature

Brooklyn Bowers started last for her 10-lap Rookie 1 feature, but persevered through the field and picked-up the checkered flag for her first win of the season. A pair of cautions on lap one and four mixed up the field and gave Brooklyn the chance to lead the final six laps. She did just that, holding off an eager Carson McKee and Asher Heard at the finish.

Terpstra Claims Rookie 2 Main

Emma Terpstra darted to the lead on the opening lap from her second-place starting position and never looked back. Emma led all 10 laps of the Rookie 2 feature and was lightning fast to grow a big lead and claim the victory. She defeated strong competitors Carson Lemanis, who made a spectacular last lap pass to finish second, Nathan Shorts, Ashton Leclair and Koen O’Hara.

Bristow Wins Jr. Sportsman 1

Cameron Bristow engineered his pole starting position in to a feature win in the 15-lap Junior Sportsman 1 main event. Despite tough challenges from Keira Turner and Carson Down, Cameron held on to the top spot to claim his first checkered flag of the season. James Markland took a tough hit on the opening lap. He got out of his kart on his own power and was checked out by paramedics for precautionary reasons. He was okay.

Peterson Triumphs In Jr. Sportsman 2

Like Bristow, Emily Peterson used the pole starting position to her advantage and led all 15 laps of the Junior Sportsman 2 feature. Chandler Leclair kept right with the race leader, however, waiting for a mistake to pounce for the lead. Emily was flawless the entire race, however, and never relented on her way to the checkered flag. She was followed across the line by Kaitlyn O’Blenis and Cole McKeown who made last lap passes to finish in the top-three.

Junior Sportsman 2 Results (15 Laps): 1. 17e Emily Peterson, 2. 23k Kaitlyn O’Blenis, 3. 11 Cole McKeown, 4. 48 Ryan Greig, 5. 02 Holly Denard, 6. 07 Raiah Lough.

Anderson Scores Jr. Restricted Victory

Kyle Anderson outmuscled the competition and took the lead from Cole Perry on lap six on his way to his first checkered flag of the season. Kyle had to outduel Nathan Rinaldi over the final nine laps to hold on to his victory, but was perfectly smooth in the process to accomplish the feat. Anthony Rinaldi completed the top-three.

The Kiwanis Club of Trenton Brighton Speedway Kart Klub returns to action next Thursday, June 9 for it’s third night of competition. Race time is 7:00pm with hot laps scheduled for 6:30pm.
