Brighton Speedway Announces Format Change For Stinger Division

BRIGHTON (July 14, 2015) – Brighton Speedway is making changes to the format for the popular Qunite Septic Stinger division for the remainder of the 2015 season, effective immediately. The changes come as a result of the impressive car count in excess of 20 cars at several races so far this season.

19stingerThe Stingers will now be divided into two divisions, the Junior Stinger and Super Stinger division.

The Junior Stinger division will be composed of rookie and sophomore drivers with less than two years experience. The Super Stinger division will be composed of drivers with three or more years of Stinger experience.

The changes will eliminate a B-Main for the Stinger division and allow all drivers to qualify for a 12-lap feature. With two features in every night of competition, more drivers will have the opportunity to win a feature race. If a driver wins three races in the Junior Stinger division, they will automatically be moved to the Super Stinger division.

StingersThe change will create a safer racing environment for drivers racing against other competitors of similar speed and experience. Fewer cars on the track will also make it easier to observe the ‘No Contact’ rule and allow drivers to focus on improving their skill.

All drivers will keep their existing points as they are divided into separate divisions. Track officials reserve the right to move drivers up or down as necessary. This format change will be reevaluated at the conclusion of the 2015 season.

Drivers will be informed of their classification at the racetrack on July 18 and are asked not to contact the Speedway Office to determine their new division.
