Brighton Speedway Postpones the Opening 2020 Season

For Immediate Release

Brighton, ON

April 8, 2020

Brighton Speedway was set to open the 1/3rd mile clay track on Saturday, May 2nd but in response to the government directives regarding the current Covid-19 Pandemic and the guidelines for social distancing to limit its spread, the Speedway has been forced to delay the start of the 2020 racing season.

“The immediate future is uncertain for many seasonal and small businesses, the directives from government and medical professionals’ changes almost daily and although we could speculate and dream it seems unrealistic that an opening night will begin on time” states Promoter and Owner Angela Rinaldi.

Track prep and maintenance set to begin this month is still anticipated but is reliant on Mark and Angela and their two teenage boys who are home at this point.  “We will continue to prepare for the season and get the track ready for racing but resources are limited to what we have and only the boys as additional help”, says Mark Rinaldi, Promoter and Owner of the Brighton Speedway.

Driver’s are encouraged to continue to prepare their cars, fans are encouraged to remain optimistic.  The message from Brighton Speedway and the Rinaldi Family is “Stay home! Do your part to minimize the spread of Covid-19 so we can all get back to racing!”

The website at www.brightonspeedway.ca and Brighton Speedway on Facebook will continue to be updated as the situation progresses.   Details regarding season passes and schedule changes will be announced as soon as information is available. The Speedway requests that fans and drivers look for updates on the website and Facebook and that contacting the Speedway will not provide any better or different news.
