McCrillis, Greig, Lemanis, LeClair, Anderson, Burrows Win at Kart Klub Week 4

BRIGHTON (June 25, 2015) – The fourth week of racing action at the Brighton Speedway Kart brought a full field of karts with 34 drivers signed in across six divisions.

Polesitter Trevyn McCrillis (No.71) fell back to third early in the race behind Cooper McKeown (No.9) and Brooklyn Bowers (No.03) before he passed both drivers in the same corner on lap five to take the lead again. The young five-year-old driver never looked back to win the 10-lap feature race. Cooper, Brooklyn and Colton Lockridge (No.5c) completed the finish.

The Box Stock 2 division brought another entertaining race with several battles for the lead. Jacob Down (No.57) and James Markland (No.21) led the field to the green flag. James took the lead early until a couple of restarts gave Ryan Greig (No.48) a shot at the lead. He made the pass for the point in the closing laps to earn the victory ahead of James, Max McDonald (No.5), Jacob, and Asher Heard (No.52).

The rookie 1 division had the biggest field of the night and ran a clean and green feature race. The drivers raced in close quarters, but remained contact and incident free throughout the 10-lap feature. Carson Lemanis (No.C1) started on the pole and led every lap on the way to the victory. Lemanis held off Carson Down (No.55), Ashton Leclair (No.76), Nathan Shorts (No.20), Cameron Bristow (No.99), Keira Turner (No.92), Claire McDonald (No.17) and Lexi Lucas (No.74) for the victory.

Chandler Leclair (No.48) and Cole McKeown (No.11) brought the rookie 2 field to life, but it was third-place started Holly Denard (No.02) who led the opening lap. With two laps to go, however, Chandler mounted a charge to the front and took the lead back on lap 8. He went on to win the race over Holly, Cole, Emily Peterson (No.17e), Emma Terpstra (No.22) and Kaitlyn O’Blenis (No.23k).

The Junior Sportsman division an exciting race. Polesitter Kyle Anderson (No.17) led every lap of the 10-lap main event to earn the victory. He beat brother Nathan (No.3) and Anthony Rinaldi (No.77) who exchanged the second spot a couple of times. Jordan Burrows (No.16) and Cole Perry (No.23) completed the finish.

Carrissa Burrows (No.33c) started on the pole for the Junior Restricted division 15-lap feature with last week’s winner, Nathan Rinaldi (No.3) to the outside of he front row. Sydenham, Ont.’s Andrew Young (No.29a) made his first start of the year and lined up third. Burrows led every lap of the main event despite Rinaldi’s best attempts to crossover at the exit of the corner and take the lead. Young settled for third.

The Brighton Speedway Kart Klub will be back in action in two weeks on Thursday July 9 and again on Saturday, July 11 for the Kart Klub demonstration.
