kartklub6BRIGHTON (July 9, 2015) – The fifth week of racing action at the Brighton Speedway Kart Klub brought a full field of karts with 36 drivers signed in across six divisions

Box Stock 1

Brooklyn Bowers (No.03) and Cooper McKeown (No.9) led the field to green in the Box Stock 1 division but five-year old Trevyn McCrillis (No.71) took the lead after an early caution and never looked back. For McCrillis it was his second feature win in as many weeks. Brooklyn, Cooper, Ryan Post (No.11r) and Colton Lockridge (No.5c) completed the finish.

The Box Stock 2 division saw polesitter Max McDonald (No. 5) go wire-to-wire picking up the win after an exciting race. Ryan Greig (No.48) challenged for the lead early but a caution pushed him to the back of the field. Instead James Markland (No. 21) made a push late in the 10-lap feature but he was unable to catch the speedy McDonald. Asher Heard (No.52), Jacob Down (No.57) and Grieg rounded out the finish.

Rookie 1

kartklub5The Rookie 1 division saw the biggest field of the night with nine drivers checked in for the feature race. Claire McDonald (No.17) and Keira Turner (No.92) brought the field to life but it was Kalen Draper (No.18k) taking the checkered at the end of the 10-lap feature. Draper held off McDonald, Nathan Shorts (No.20), Carson Lemanis (No.C1), Carson Down (No.55), Cameron Bristow (No.99), Lexi Lucas (No.74), Ashton Leclair (No.76) and Turner for the victory.

Rookie 2

kartklub2The Rookie 2 division also featured a large field with eight drivers taking the green flag for the start of the 15-lap feature. The front row starred Kaitlyn O’Blenis (No.23k) and Emily Peterson (No.17e), who battled for the lead throughout the night. When the checkered flew, it was the polesitter O’Blenis beating out the fast charging Peterson. Holly Denard (No.02), Chandler Leclair (No.48), Josh Reed (No. 12), Cole McKeown (No.11), Emma Terpstra (No.22) and Raiah Lough (No. 07) rounded out the field.

Jr. Sportsman

kartklub4Kyle Anderson (No.17) and Nathan Rinaldi (No. 3) brought the Jr. Sportsman field to life but it was the third-place starter Anthony Rinaldi taking the checkered when all was said and done. The 10-lap feature ran caution-free and included several battles for the lead amongst the top three starters. In the end, Anthony was able to edge out his brother Nathan while Anderson, Cole Perry (No.23) and Jordan Burrows (No.16) completed the finish.

Jr. Restricted

Brock Gregory (No.1) started on the pole in his return to the Junior Restricted division after a kartklub1week absence alongside point leader Carissa Burrows (No. 33c). Third place starter Nathan Rinaldi (No.3) came fast charging on the first lap but was Burrows overtaking Gregory for the lead. Despite Rinaldi’s best attempts to catch the flying Burrows, she never relinquished the lead from that point on, winning for the second week in a row. Gregory settled for third.
