BRIGHTON (August 6, 2015) – Brighton Speedway’s Kart Klub roared back to life on Thursday night with full card of action for six divisions with 30 drivers prepared for battle on the karting oval inside the larger 1/3-mile bullring.

Box Stock 1

image6Cooper McKeown (No.9) drove from his fourth-place starting spot to first with a power move around the outside of the field to take the lead on the opening lap of the Box Stock 1 10-lap feature. The five-year-old driver led all 10 laps of the race to claim the victory. Brooklyn Bowers (No.03) settled in to the second position as she held of Colton Lockridge (No.5c) and Trevyn McCrillis (No.71) who battled side-by-side for the final five laps of the race. Ryan Post (No.11r) and Carson McKee (No.2) completed the running order.

Box Stock 2

image3In Box Stock 2 action, Max McDonald (No.5) started on the front row with Jace James (No.99J). James Markland (No.21) quickly took the lead, however, on the opening lap and led all 10 laps to earn the win. Despite earlier damage in his heat race, Ryan Greig (No.48) set a furious pace in the latter half of the race to track down Max for second and earned the position at the finish line. Jace James and Jacob Down (No.57) completed the finish.

Rookie 1

In Rookie 1 action, Keira Turner (No.92) led the opening lap after starting on the pole, but a spin image5on lap two gave the lead to second-place runner Carson Lemanis (No.C1). Carson was flawless on the ensuing restart and cruised to a 10 car-length lead. He took the victory over Carson Down (No.55), Keira Turner, Nathan Shorts (No.20), Ashton LeClair (No.76) and Claire McDonald (No.17).

Rookie 2

The Rookie 2 division once again provided some of the best racing of the evening. Polesitter Holly Denard (No.02) was under siege from Cole McKeown (No.11) for all image210 laps of the feature race. The track position was enough for the win as Holly ran a perfect race to collect the checkered flag at the finish line. Cole was second ahead of Kaitlyn O’Blenis (No.23k), Emma Terpstra (No.22), Ashton LeClair (No.48) and Emily Peterson (No.17e).

Jr. Sportsman

The Junior Sportsman feature was equally as impressive over the course of the 15-lap showdown. Polesitter Anthony Rinaldi (No.77) led the opening four laps until his older brother, Nathan Rinaldi (No.3), took over the point exiting turn two on image4lap five. After a caution on lap six, Kyle Anderson (No.17) took over second and was in hot pursuit of the race leader, but couldn’t complete the pass before the checkered flag flew. Nathan was the victory ahead of Kyle, Anthony and Jordan Burrows (No.16).

Jr. Restricted

The Junior Restricted division had three karts in the field for the 15-lap feature event with Nathan Rinaldi (No.3) and point leader Carissa Burrows (No.33c) on the front row. Nathan led the opening seven laps until a caution. Burrows image1made the pass for the lead two laps following the restart and while Rinaldi fought to take the lead back, he couldn’t get past Carissa again when the checkered flag fell. Brock Gregory (No.1) finished third.

The Klub takes a one week break before returning for the final two weeks of the racing season on August 20 and 27. The year-end banquet will be Thursday, September 4 at the Speedway.
